About CATS

CATS History

History CATS is one of the largest of the 20 Community Transport Operators across Suffolk. Started in 1998 with one minibus and a small office in Leiston High Street, CATS is greatful of the support it has recieved since from Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Coastal District Council and all the Parish Councils, community members and passengers who so generously give donations.

Just as important is the contribution from the many hundreds of volunteers who have so willingly given their time to drive our busus or their own cars, to help in the office in organising journeys or to become a Management Committee Member and give their time and expertise to ensure CATS is run properly.

CATS is now a social enterprise run by the community for the community and combining business thinking and social values for their benefit.  CATS is now recognised by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs as having charitable status, any surpluses re-invested in the organisation to help us replace our vehicles when necessary and to make sure we reach as many people as possible.

CATS People

Many of the paid drivers started as volunteers, and training is given to everyone.  All driver are aslo subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks.
