Coastal Accessible Transport Services (CATS) operates three Demand Responsive Bus Services on behalf of Suffolk County Council, designed specifically for rural villages without a regular bus service. These services help you travel to your local hub or connect with mainstream bus and rail services.
Operating Monday to Saturday, from 7am to 7pm, these flexible services can be booked by phone or online and are charged at standard bus fares—making them both convenient and affordable.
Who can use it?
Anyone can use these services, but pre-booking is essential. You can book up to 14 days in advance or even on the same day (subject to availability). Whether you’re travelling for work, education, medical appointments, shopping, sightseeing, or social visits—this service is here to help.
Our Services:
East Service: Covers villages east of the A12, from Walberswick to Orford, and across to Blythburgh and Campsea Ashe.
West Service: Covers areas west of the A12, from Blythburgh to Campsea Ashe, stretching across to Dennington and Cretingham.
South Service: Covers a triangle from Woodbridge down to Orford and Bawdsey.
These services offer exceptional flexibility, allowing you to make journeys that traditional bus routes can’t accommodate, with timings to suit your schedule and the peace of mind that your seat is guaranteed.
Pick-up points are usually at designated bus stops, but if that’s not feasible due to your location or accessibility needs, we’ll do our best to arrange an alternative pick-up point that works for you.
